Question 7: Can a PPTC Switch Between States? How Can Its State Remain Unchanged?

Question 7: Can a PPTC Switch Between States? How Can Its State Remain Unchanged?

When the fault condition that triggered the PPTC is not cleared, it will not switch back and forth between the normal and tripped states. During operation, the resistance of the fuse increases from low to high. In this high-resistance state, a small leakage current continues to flow. This residual current is sufficient to maintain the fuse in the tripped (high-resistance) state. Only when the fault is completely eliminated can the fuse cool down and return to its low-resistance state.
