Itrip (Trip Current) refers to the minimum current required to cause the PPTC resettable fuse to trip in still air at room temperature (25°C).

For most products, the ratio of Itrip to Ihold is approximately 2:1. For some products, this ratio may be as low as 1.7:1, while for others it can be as high as 3:1. This ratio is determined by factors such as material composition, manufacturing methods, and changes in resistance after tripping.
