Question 13: Can PPTC protect MOSFETs?

PPTC can not only be used for overcurrent protection but also provide thermal protection for power MOSFETs. They can also work in conjunction with IC chips to monitor ambient temperature, preventing overheating during charging. In linear chargers, PPTC are connected in series in the primary circuit and thermally coupled with the transformer coil to protect against secondary short-circuit overcurrent faults and coil overheating, thereby meeting IEC/UL requirements. In switching mode power supplies, PPTC can be thermally bonded with the switching transistor to prevent damage caused by overcurrent and other issues.
