Question 15: What are the criteria for testing PPTC ?

1、The test must be conducted in a 25°C room temperature environment, without light or heat radiation.

2、The initial resistance Rmin must fall within the range specified in the datasheet.

3、The resistance R1max after soldering must be within the range specified in the datasheet.

4、If the PPTC does not trip after 60 minutes under the Ihold current, it is considered qualified.

5、If the PPTC trips within 2 minutes under the Itrip current, it is considered qualified.

6、After withstanding current tests, if the PPTC shows no burning or cracking, it is considered qualified.

7、After withstanding voltage tests, if the PPTC shows no burning or cracking, it is considered qualified.

Common misconceptions in PPTC testing:

1、Testing without soldering the fuse onto the circuit board.

2、Subjecting the fuse to multiple high-temperature soldering processes.

3、Proceeding with other electrical tests even if the resistance after soldering exceeds the datasheet range.

4、Compared to other overcurrent protection devices, the tripping time may be slower, but tripping within 2 minutes is still considered qualified.
